Onto Soft Grounds

What does comfort mean to us? Onto Soft Grounds is a community project exploring individual responses to mental wellbeing and escapism. Throughout October 2022, Livia Papiernik and Chloé Rochefort led a series of textile workshop themes of comfort and belonging in collaboration with Well Space Community in Homerton, London. Hand stitching is a powerful meditative act that allows us to slow down and connect with ourself and others.

With a focus and on social integration and accessibility to artistic expression, these workshops and materials were provided for free. It welcomed a large number of participants from the local area and beyond, from all age range and background. In December 2022, Livia and Chloé presented the large community quilt gathering all the artwork created with the participants. They encouraged visitors to interact with the quilt, and explore their own sence of comfort through the various textures and colours. The quilt will remains in Well Space Community.
